Verso Books has partnered with Virtusales Publishing Solutions to introduce a new sales analytical and reporting tool called Biblio Intelligence.
According to Virtusales, Biblio Intelligence is a “fully integrated business intelligence module, enabling deeper analysis and better decision making based on complete, real-time data.”
Jacob Stevens, managing director of Verso Books, said, “This [partnership] allows us to quickly identify parts of our list that are under- or over-performing, work out why, and try to adapt.”
And Rodney Elder, VP of commercial operations at Virtusales, said, “Publishers need this type of functionality to analyze sales, and we are very happy to have produced something that will support Verso and others making optimal commercial decisions.”
Verso is not the first big-name publisher to make use of Virtusales’s data management and workflow services. The company already works with Hachette, Penguin Random House, Pearson Education, Pan Macmillan and Harvard University Press, among others.
Virtusales also provides software to publishers that covers contracts, rights, royalties, bibliographic data and ONIX feed management, production, digital asset management and inventory management.
Verso, the largest, independent radical publishing house in the English-speaking world, publishes 100 books a year from authors such as Ta-Nehisi Coates, Owen Hatherley and Aaron Swartz.
