The Author Contract Battle Goes GlobalDated January 5th, the Authors Guild’s open letter to the Association of American Publishers leads the loudest call yet for contract reform in publishing’s relations with authors.

This is a coordinated campaign being mounted by the world’s key author-advocacy organizations.

The letter’s signatories include the UK’s Society of Authors, the Authors Licensing and Collecting Society and the Irish Writers Union, along with a host of more than two dozen writer-advocacy organizations from Europe, Africa, Australia and North America.

In the United Kingdom, the Society of Authors has simultaneously released its own letter to the Publishers Association and Independent Publishers Guild.

China South Publishing & Media Group has achieved rapid growth in the past 10 years and is leading the transition in publishing from print to digital. CNS is the top publisher in China in terms of profit, which has grown significantly since 2010. Profits reached 1.549 billion RMB ($237 million) in 2014, up from 0.806 billion RMB ($123 million) in 2010, with the average annual growth rate over 24 percent.
