Scribd announced today that it has added more than 6,000 titles from Macmillan. This is the third time the “Big Five” publisher has upped its number of titles available on the subscription service, and is the largest to date.
The changes go into effect today.
In a statement, Co-Founder and CEO of Scribd, Trip Adler, said, “We are excited to bring thousands of high-quality, award-winning books from Macmillan to our members. At Scribd, we believe great books shouldn’t have a shelf life, and we are proud to drive discovery and reads of a diverse set of titles and provide incremental revenue to our publishing partners.”
Notable new titles include The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert, The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America by George Packer, and The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick.
Scribd’s new offering comes after last month’s shift to a hybrid model, which allows subscribers to read three premium ebooks and listen to one audiobook per month, in addition to unlimited access to a separate collection of rotating titles called Scribd Selects.
