**Publishing startup Futureproofs expands into Ireland**

This week, the online proofing platform Futureproofs gained its first customer from the Republic of Ireland. Its adoption by Gill Education marks another step in the international expansion of UK-based Futureproofs, after establishing itself in the USA last year.

Leading Irish publisher Gill Education is adopting Futureproofs (www.wearefutureproofs.com) to support their commitment to high-quality educational materials. Margaret Burns (Publishing Director, Gill Education) said, “Teachers, students and parents rely on our books being clear and accurate, and Futureproofs helps us to deliver that quality more easily and quickly. We’ve been delighted with the reaction from in-house staff, freelancers and authors.”

John Pettigrew (CEO & Founder, We Are Futureproofs Ltd) said, “I spent many years as an editor in Education and it’s great to be working with publishers like Gill who are so committed to making a difference. And, of course, to be helping editors and authors to get their books right, more quickly and easily!”

Futureproofs helps book teams to save time and money on their proofs by enabling effective on-screen working. Its key features are:
* elegant gesture-based markup for rapid capture of corrections;
* effective collaboration to track and resolve queries;
* real-time data to empower project managers.

Futureproofs is being used by publishers of all sizes from the UK, the USA and Europe to make permanent improvements in their operating margin, focusing especially on illustrated content such as textbooks and trade non-fiction.

Users say that Futureproofs is simple and powerful, and really helps them in their day-to-day work. Helen Seachrist (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) said that “Collating corrections takes a fraction of the time it does when working with hard copy or PDFs,” and Louise Harnby (Proofreader) said that “the line-by-line markup functionality is, frankly, gorgeous.”

Futureproofs was a finalist for the London Book Fair’s 2016 Quantum Innovation Award, and The Bookseller’s 2014 Best Tech Innovation award.
