Overdrive announced today that it has launched new digital library websites and a new app. The ebook and audiobook prover, which is used by more than 90 percent of U.S. libraries, updated its service with enhanced security, a simplified borrowing process and improved discoverability.
With Overdrive’s improved technology, users will have a more seamless experience across web, mobile and the app.
The new service also includes auto-complete search functionality, the ability to place a hold on titles yet to be released, better recommendations, and improved visible title availability.
The update also gives libraries new tools, including the ability to create custom collections of interest on their library’s homepage and feature specific titles; curate content for language-or subject-specific “rooms” (areas with specially curated collections); and kids/teens e-reading rooms.
“The features of the new OverDrive align with the needs of today’s library customers,” said Shannon Lichty, director of partner services at OverDrive. “As a result of the tremendous efforts of thousands of librarians, readers across the world can find and enjoy their next great read quicker and easier than ever.”
