Hummingbird Digital Media announced today that its platform now supports retailers that want to sell only audiobooks. The new audiobook-only program includes an app for listening, as well as an intuitive web-based storefront for discovering and purchasing audiobooks.
The app and the storefront both carry the brand identity of the retailer, which means the customer never needs to leave the bookstore’s universe to make a purchase or listen to an audiobook.
The app works on iOS and Android devices, including Nook, Kobo and Kindle Fire.
“We feel retailers who begin using the audiobook-only platform will appreciate how simple and robust our program is and how well their customers like it and, eventually, flip the switch that allows their audiobook storefront to become an audiobook and ebook storefront,” said Greg Lee, Hummingbird’s vendor and merchant support manager. “We like to ask store owners, ‘Why make your customers download and use two apps, one for reading ebooks and another [for] listening to audiobooks?’”
