HarperCollins announced a new audiobooks deal today with hoopla digital, a free service that offers library patrons online and mobile access to more than 450,000 movies, ebooks, music and more.
Starting today, the publisher is offering its entire digital audiobooks catalog to the service, including Veronica Roth’s Divergent series, C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia series, and Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird.
Hoopla is a Netflix-like service that is offered specifically to libraries. All patrons needs is a library card. With it, cardholders have free 24/7 online and mobile access to all content, including ebooks, movies, music, audiobooks, TV shows and comics. Patrons can also explore on-demand content via their smartphones, tablets and computers.
“We are thrilled to secure this agreement with HarperCollins and excited to expand our audiobook catalog with thousands of popular and award-winning titles which are all available to cardholders 24/7, without any holds or waits,” said Jeff Jankowski, founder and owner of hoopla digital. “Audiobooks are the fastest growing segment in publishing to date, with high demand from libraries and their patrons, and we will continue to make a significant investment to assemble a deep offering of titles for cardholders to enjoy anywhere, anytime.”
Hoopla digital is available in 950 library systems across North America.
