F+W, A Content + eCommerce Company announced today the appointment of Tom Beusse as CEO, effective immediately.
Beusse most recently served as founder and president of the USA Today Sports Media Group. In his three years in the position, Beusse built the company (which incorporated dozens of assets across Gannett’s many media properties) into one of the top sources of sports news and information in the country. Prior to his time at USA Today, Beusse served as president and CEO of Westwood One, a publicly-owned content syndication company focused on network and local radio.
“We’re thrilled that Tom will be joining F+W,” said Terry O’Toole, co-managing member of Tinicum, L.P., F+W’s majority stakeholder, and chair of F+W’s Board of Directors. “We were fortunate to meet many very qualified candidates for the job, and Tom brings the experience, energy, and vision to drive the company’s future.”
Beusse’s extensive media experience also includes five years as president of magazine publishing at Rodale, Inc., where he repositioned the company and its brands, Men’s Health, Runner’s World and others as international lifestyle brands. As president of Time4 Media, a former subsidiary of Time Warner, Beusse focused on 18 consumer niche brands, including Golf Magazine, This Old House, Popular Science and Field and Stream.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead F+W forward in the ever-changing media landscape,” Beusse said. “The deep relationship F+W brands have with their customers positions us for real growth in an increasingly vertical media environment. The experience I have gained from previous roles, particularly at Rodale and Time4 Media, provides me with an excellent understanding of the roles these brands play in the lives of the enthusiasts they serve and with some tangible plans to expand the same.”
The hiring of Beusse ends a four-month search for a new CEO. Former Chairman and CEO David Nussbaum left F+W in 2015 after eight years to take over as CEO of America’s Test Kitchen.
