Global Provider of Rights Licensing Technology and Content Solutions Acquires Leading Supplier of Enterprise Content Management and Publishing Solutions
Danvers, Mass. – Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC), a firm dedicated to creating global licensing and content solutions that make copyright work, has acquired London-based Ixxus, a software professional services firm and leading provider of publishing solutions that reinvent the way organizations work with content. With offices in the UK, US, Spain and Romania, Ixxus is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of CCC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to The Radicati Group, the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market will grow from $5.5 billion in 2014 to more than $9.4 billion in 2018. This is an average annual growth of 15% over that timeframe. The Ixxus proposition goes beyond the traditional ECM offering, combining content modeling, semantic linking and advanced workflow capabilities to support the publishing process from end to end and deliver truly ‘smart content.’
“Content is at the center of every conversation we have with our customers,” said Tracey Armstrong, President and CEO, CCC. “Ixxus and CCC have extensive experience, know-how, talent, and relationships in complementary areas. Ixxus’ content management expertise and services combined with CCC’s rights management expertise and license products will enable us to create powerful new offerings that our clients are asking for.”
“Ixxus is recognized as a leading authority on all things content,” said Steve Odart, Founder and co-CEO, Ixxus. “Our work with respected global publishers, including Wiley and Pearson, gives us unrivalled experience within the field. As part of CCC, we’re now able to address critical rights licensing challenges for current and future customers and develop solutions to support global business transformation.”
CCC is widely recognized as a team of consultative problem-solvers who respond to customers’ needs with unique solutions combining rights, content and technology. As it explores opportunities to extend the value of licensing through new service offerings with the Ixxus business, CCC will continue to expand its presence in the publishing market through ongoing product development and sales of its RightsLink® permissions and author services SaaS products. The company will also continue to offer SaaS-based content workflow, text and data mining and document delivery solutions for the corporate sector through its RightFind™ content solution suite.
Signal Hill served as exclusive financial advisor to CCC in connection with its acquisition of Ixxus. Ixxus was represented in the transaction by Innovation Advisors, a technology-focused investment bank.
