What does your company do?
Here at Intellogo, we do big data analysis on the content in books and reader behavior. We use machine learning, (a subset of artificial intelligence) to crack open books and understand their content: themes, writing styles, pacing, emotions, etc. We then use that data to better match books with readers.
What’s unique about your company compared to your competitors?
Intellogo is equipped to understand what is actually in these books. Our system is trained to understand content in a more conceptual way, without relying on keywords being present.
What’s the single biggest benefit your customers get from your service?
We support retailers with book recommendations and a better grasp of reader behavior, helping publishers revive back catalogues. Big media companies with lots of content see our value in helping them categorize and sort through all their content. Self-published authors can use our editing decision support tools to benchmark their books to others and suggest keywords which they may have missed when submitting their books to the ebook retailers.
What’s the single biggest problem for your customers right now?
We are overloaded with content, and it’s constantly growing. Our reading habits haven’t really changed—we are limited in how much we can read in a day. We need to understand the reader and content better. We also need to create new opportunities to bring in new readers. Better technology integration solves a number of challenges. With big data we can match content and create new content that readers are interested in.
What’s the single biggest opportunity for your customers right now?
As our reading habits haven’t really changed, the biggest opportunities are twofold: helping readers find what they need in the growing wall of content and finding unconventional channels to reach readers.
What industry trends do you think will have the greatest impact on your customers over the next 24 months?
Search analytics and big data will increasingly make a big impact on publishing the industry.
