What does your company do?
We are a digital media platform dedicated to the discovery of new books and authors through online social behavior. Based in New York City, Bookstr is at the forefront of engagement and discovery with an emphasis on mobile, all while encouraging customer engagement across platforms. Later in the year, Bookstr will have an app dedicated to the discovery of new books and authors.
What’s unique about your company compared to your competitors?
We are an independent company with an enthusiastic staff of under 20. Our most active members are millennials (60 percent). We are dedicated to connecting people through book recommendations, online book clubs and literary content. When our customers purchase books through us, 50 percent of our book-sale profits go to a non-profit focused on spreading literacy in developing countries. Furthermore, we are not locked in a product roadmap, so we can make changes to our website and app based off customer feedback quicker than most companies.
What’s the single biggest benefit your customers get from your service?
Our customers are able to enhance and supplement their reading experience with exclusive content such as Facebook Live interviews with authors, and utilize our social platform to find new recommendations.
What’s the single biggest problem for your customers right now?
Our single biggest problem for our customers is brand awareness. The more users we get on our platform, the more connections, voices and revenue will be available to further enhance the service.
What’s the single biggest opportunity for your customers right now?
The launch of our application. Users will be able to share literary-inspired photos, write and request book recommendations, and communicate with their reader friends. Our next largest opportunity is our Author Portal, which will allow independent authors to easily advertise their work. It is scheduled for release shortly after the release of our app.
What industry trends do you think will have the greatest impact on your customers over the next 24 months?
We’re being idealistic, but we hope that over the next 24 months consumers will have greater access to more interesting book recommendations from less-well-known authors.
