Read-Along Ebooks Growing in Popularity at Local Libraries

OverdriveEbook distributor OverDrive has released a list of its most borrowed Read-Along ebooks for the month of September from libraries across the nation, as well as suggested Halloween titles.

Read-Along ebooks are synchronized audio and text, and were introduced to libraries last year, experiencing immediate popularity with a 22-percent increase in ebooks borrowed between August and September 2015.

Overdrive, a leading ebook and audiobook platform for libraries and schools, offers nearly 1,600 Read-Alongs for both online and offline use in a variety of subjects for children.

The books include well-known characters, such as Superman (I Can Read, HarperCollins), and celebrity narrators, such as Ray Charles, John Lithgow and Randy Travis, amongst others.

The most borrowed Read-Along ebook titles from libraries that provide access to OverDrive books are:

1. Scaredy Squirrel at Night (Kids Can Press Ltd.)
2. 50 Below Zero (Annick Press)
3. Curious George Goes to the Zoo (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Trade and Reference)
4. I Have to Go! (Annick Press)
5. Click, Clack, Moo (Atheneum Books for Young Readers)

The company’s suggested Halloween ebooks are:

1. Penguin and Pumpkin (Bloomsbury Publishing)
2. Princess in Disguise (Candlewick Press)
3. Lulu Goes to Witch School (Harper Collins)
4. Froggy’s Halloween (Penguin Young Readers Group)
