HarperCollins announced its acquisition of The Midlist, a daily email newsletter that features ebook deals, from Libboo.
The newsletter will merge with HarperCollins’ own newsletter platform, Bookperk, which delivers deals and other offers to its million plus subscribers in the U.S and the U.K. via newsletters and an app on iOS and Android.
“Folding The Midlist into Bookperk is the next logical step as we grow Bookperk into an industry-leading direct-to-consumer platform that connects our authors and our tremendous backlist to more than a million readers,” said Angela Tribelli, chief marketing officer at HarperCollins.
Of the acquisition, Jason Freeman, CEO of Libboo, noted, “Bookperk is an industry leader in the price promotional space, and it’s clear that the HarperCollins team is passionate about serving their community of digital readers. Their dedication to providing a great service is why our Libboo team is so excited The Midlist.com will be joining Bookperk.”
Libboo, which has in the past provided audience development services to Bookperk, will continue serving HarperCollins as a client with its flagship product, instaFreebie, the company’s new focus. instaFreebie is an ebook giveaway tool that helps authors and publishers attract readers with free content and convert them to mailing list subscribers.
