Hachette Livre Partners with Knewton to Develop Adaptive Curricula For K-12 and Higher Education Students

Partnership extends personalized learning across French schools

NEW YORK – September 10, 2015 – Hachette Livre, the third-largest trade and educational publisher in the world, announced a partnership with leading adaptive learning company Knewton today. Together, the companies will create digital curricula to give every student a more personal learning experience. Hachette Livre’s education publishing houses in France – Hachette Education, Hatier, Didier and Foucher – will use Knewton technology to create learning materials that dynamically adjust based on each student’s unique needs. The first Knewton-powered products will be available for the 2016 school year, with more titles to follow.

“Adaptive learning is a tremendous tool for teachers. With Knewton, we can create learning products that show educators what each student knows or needs to work on, so they can tailor content for every individual,” said Carole Percet-Guibourg, director of digital education development for Hachette Livre in France.

Hachette Livre, which publishes textbooks and interactive exercises for K-12 and higher education students in France, plans to use Knewton as part of a brand new, next-generation digital product suite.

“With Hachette Livre, we can help more teachers and students in the French-speaking world access learning materials that are tailored to each individual,” said Jose Ferreira, founder and CEO of Knewton. “Together we can help teachers and students of all skill levels get more personalized learning materials and help them succeed.”
