Print Friendly

lone survivorThe release of the film Lone Survivor, starring Mark Wahlberg, has helped drive the ebook of the same title to No. 1 on the Digital Book World Ebook Best-Seller list. Readers snapped up Marcus Luttrell’s Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 for $3.99.

Film tie-ins have been big for ebooks this year, even on this week’s list. The No. 2 best-selling ebook is Divergent by Veronica Roth (HarperCollins). The film based on the book doesn’t come out until March. Lone Survivor came out on Christmas Day.

Other ebooks on the list with related films are The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (Penguin Random House, No. 10), Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (Scholastic, No. 18), The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks (Hachette, No. 20, currently in development for a 2015 release), and Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup (HarperCollins, No. 24).

Meanwhile, the average price of a best-selling ebook is now $6.00, down from $6.33 two weeks ago, the last time it was measured (note, the DBW Ebook Best-Seller list wasn’t published last week do to the Digital Book World 2014 conference).

Editor’s note: There is no previous week’s rank and no “change” from previous week’s rank because the list was not published the previous week.
