NEW YORK – (September 8, 2014) Hilary Mason, Founder, Fast Forward Labs, will be speaking at Digital Book World Conference + Expo 2015, held in New York City from January 13-15. Hilary’s presentation is titled Smart Data: A Look at Data—Big and Small—For Publishing.
“One of the core tenets of Digital Book World is that publishing in the digital age needs to be an increasingly data-driven business. Programming that drives that thinking is always a priority for us. We are thrilled that Hilary Mason will be bringing her deep expertise about using data in imaginative ways to bear specifically on challenges the book business faces,” said DBW Conference Council Chair Mike Shatzkin, founder and CEO of the Idea Logical Company and partner in Publishers Launch Conferences. Hilary Mason recently announced the launch of Fast Forward Labs on her blog where she wrote: “Fast Forward Labs is an independent data technology research lab. Hilary was previously the Data Scientist in Residence at Accel Partners, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm. From 2009 to 2013, she served as Chief Scientist for bitly, the popular link-shortening service, where she continues to work as Scientist Emeritus, advising a team that studies attention on the Internet in real time.
Hilary is the co-founder of HackNY, a non-profit that helps talented engineering students find their way into the startup community of creative technologists in New York City; co-host of DataGotham, an annual event for professionals involved in data science; and member of NYCResistor.
