[Press Release]

txtr continues international expansion across English-speaking markets

Berlin-based eReading company txtr now has local online stores in the main English-speaking countries worldwide. New Web stores have been most recently launched in Australia (au.txtr.com), New Zealand (nz.txtr.com), South Africa (za.txtr.com), Ireland (ie.txtr.com) and Canada (ca.txtr.com) with local operations already existing in the United States (us.txtr.com) and the United Kingdom (gb.txtr.com). These stores offer eBooks from both local and leading international publishers. Each store prominently features handpicked selections of eBooks to match the preferences of local readers.

txtr has launched in Australia with books from Hachette, Penguin, Simon & Schuster and Pan Macmillan, as well as leading independent publisher Allen & Unwin. In South Africa txtr provides access to best-selling titles from US and UK-based publishers as well as over a thousand titles from New Holland Publishing and Random House Struik. In all seven countries, the txtr stores offer a choice of well over half-a-million English-language titles: for example 660,000 titles are available on au.txtr.com and over 720,000 titles are available on gb.txtr.com. Anne-Sophie Lanier, Vice President of Content & eCommerce at txtr, says: “The rapid expansion of txtr’s operations bears testimony to the flexibility of the txtr eReading platform. Our track record in rolling out new local content catalogs as well as localized shopping and reading experiences is unparalleled.”

The market for eReading is showing strong growth figures in the US and the UK. “We are uniquely positioned to meet the needs of consumers in the emerging English-speaking eBook markets. Our commitment to the standard EPUB format as well as PDF, our support of all three leading platforms (iOS, Android and Windows 8) and our cloud based library allowing users to import, store and manage their eBook collections without limitations, give consumers the freedom of choice.” adds Anne-Sophie Lanier.

An updated txtr app for Android was released this week with totally reworked sidebar navigation and with quick access to the last read books, library, eBook store, settings and help & contact. The initial market reaction and first reviews were positive.
