Spending on Digital Content on Tablets Soars, New Research Says
Nearly a quarter of Americans spend $50 or more a month on digital content for their tablet computers and nearly 10% spend $100 or more, according to a new report.
There are now about 200 million tablets worldwide, according to the report from ABI Research, a global research firm, and a billion more on the way in the next five years. Unsurprisingly, the new research finds that tablet spending is much higher than smartphone spending.
“Tablets are quickly becoming the go-to transaction screen within the home,” said ABI Research mobile devices senior practice director Jeff Orr in a statement.
As the e-reading market shifts, publishers are spending more on advertising ebooks to consumers on tablets themselves.
