Simon & Schuster publishes the complete works of
president Richard Nixon as eBooks
The complete works of President Richard Nixon are available as eBooks for the first time, Simon & Schuster announced today. Publication is timed to commemorate President Nixon’s centennial birthday on January 9, 2013. The agreement was negotiated by Simon & Schuster Publisher Jonathan Karp and Robert C. Odle, Jr. of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP on behalf of The Richard Nixon Foundation.
All titles will be available at online booksellers and in libraries. This collection includes ten books in total: Six Crises; RN: The Memoirs of Richard Nixon; The Real War; Leaders: Profiles and Reminiscences of Men Who Have Shaped the Modern World; Real Peace: A Strategy for the West; No More Vietnams; 1999: Victory without War; In the Arena: A Memoir of Victory, Defeat, and Renewal; Seize the Moment: America’s Challenge In A One-Superpower World; and Beyond Peace. All eBooks are available for purchase January 8, 2013 with the exception of RN, which will be available January 15, 2013.
Sandy Quinn, President of The Richard Nixon Foundation, said, “Richard Nixon’s books were best sellers because they offered important views and commentary on the major events which shaped our country and the world. It is clear that Richard Nixon is now being studied and appreciated more and more on the basis of his entire 48 years in the public square. We are frequently asked ‘what would Nixon do’ about current issues, and in many instances the answers can be found in the pages of these ten volumes. The Richard Nixon Foundation is delighted that on the occasion of his Centennial, those interested in history, government, policy, politics, and biography will now be able to study the life of the 37th President and his indelible imprint on our world.”
“Richard Nixon is central to the story of America in the 20th century, and these ten books will be essential primary source material for scholars and other students of history,” said Jonathan Karp. “We are grateful for the opportunity to make President Nixon’s works available to readers in the eBook format.”
Richard Nixon, the 37th president of the United States, was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. First elected to public office in 1946 representing California’s 12th congressional district, Nixon was elected to the US Senate in 1950 and two years later won the first of two terms as vice president of the United States. Winning the presidency in 1968, he was re-elected in 1972 in one of the largest victories in US history. One of America’s most prolific former presidents, Nixon’s bestselling books influenced the conduct of American foreign policy long after he left the White House.
