Kevin Hanson, president of Simon & Schuster Canada has been given the added title of publisher and the company will acquire and develop domestic authors.
As a result, Hanson has announced a number of promotions:
As part of the expansion of our publishing activities in Canada, I am very pleased to announce the following:
Alison Clarke, formerly Director of Sales Operations, will become the Associate Publisher of Simon & Schuster Canada. Alison brings depth and breadth of publishing knowledge, having been with the company for over 16 years in both senior sales and operations capacities. She has a passion for reading and great insight into what it takes to make the publishing process work for each individual title and series. Alison has already been instrumental in bringing to Simon & Schuster Canadian authors who can be well-published on both sides of the border, and as an integral part of our publishing team, she will continue to work with agents, authors and our publishing colleagues around the world to build our list.
I am also pleased to announce that Phyllis Bruce has been named Editor of Phyllis Bruce Editions, a new imprint at the company. Phyllis is one of Canada’s most distinguished editors and publishers. She is a two-time winner of the CBA Editor of the Year Award and has edited numerous bestselling and award-winning authors, including David Bergen, Charlotte Gray, Helen Humphreys, Dianne Warren, and Richard B. Wright. Phyllis will surely add a Canadian component to Simon & Schuster’s long tradition of editorial excellence and continue her long record for attracting distinguished authors and discovering new voices.
I am immensely proud and very excited to be joined by Alison and Phyllis to launch our publishing program at Simon & Schuster Canada. I am confident that we have the cornerstones for a successful team to anchor the truly “Made in Canada” publishing program, and to continue the excellent work we have always done on behalf of our authors from the United States and United Kingdom. Please join me in congratulating Alison and Phyllis on their well-deserved appointments.
