[Press Release]

Kno and Sally Ride Science Partner to Inspire Young Students to Pursue “Cool Careers in Science”
New Interactive eBook Series Lets Students Explore and Engage with Video, Audio and Simulations to Inspire Interest in the Sciences
Sally Ride Science™, an innovative science education company founded by Dr. Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, has partnered with Kno, Inc., a leader in education software, to launch its first interactive eBook series on the Kno platform, ‘Cool Careers in Science’. The new series is designed to engage and inspire upper elementary and middle school students to learn more about science and technology, as well as to explore career options in those fields. ”Cool Careers in Science” introduces students to diverse professions within the sciences, using interactive audio and video segments that feature actual scientists and engineers discussing their own career paths, the people who influenced them, the work they do, and what it means to them.

“Sally Ride Science is at the forefront of the movement to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and all of the related career opportunities in those fields. One way to do that is to provide students with engaging learning tools that ignite their curiosity in the sciences,” said Sheryle Bolton, CEO of Sally Ride Science. “Working with Kno gives Sally Ride Science the ability to fulfill our mission in new and exciting ways, while opening up a larger world of possibilities to students across the country.”

Sally Ride Science has been particularly effective at making science curriculum relevant and accessible for girls and minorities who historically have been under-represented in STEM fields. The “Cool Careers in Science” eBook is the first in a series of STEM eBooks Kno and Sally Ride Science plan to bring to life through digital technologies.

“We are excited to partner with Sally Ride Science to show young students what is possible and to break down barriers to what they can achieve,” said Osman Rashid, CEO of Kno. “Just as Sally Ride was a pioneer, this partnership offers a pioneering approach that uses digital technology to inspire students to embark upon careers in science.”
