Pew: More Americans Using Smartphones for Internet

The proportion of U.S. adults who use smartphones to access the Web has doubled since 2009 to 63%, according to the latest data from the Pew Internet and American Life Project.

Further, a third of these users say that they mostly use their smartphones to go online, meaning about one-in-five Americans use their smartphone as their primary Internet device.

As of June of this year, over half of Americans owned a smartphone, a number that has clearly increased since then. Companies like Samsung and Oyster are looking to capitalize on this move from desktop screens to handheld devices in terms of time spent by users by building new ebook businesses.
