State University of New York Press Partners with Kno to Deliver Interactive and Engaging Learning Experience for Spring Semester
SUNY Selects Kno to Offer Enhanced Selection of Digital Textbooks from One of the World’s Largest University Presses to Students
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ALBANY, N.Y. – February 6 , 2013 — Kno, a pioneer in education software, is partnering with the State University of New York (SUNY) Press, a leading international publishing company, to provide more choice for college students this Spring. Under this agreement, Kno will transform thousands of SUNY titles, and will continue to expand its catalog in the future with the hundreds of new SUNY Press titles launched each year. Kno offers more than 200,000 interactive higher education and K-12 digital titles from over 80 textbook publishers. Kno textbooks are available for iPad, Android, Web, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
“Digital content is a rapidly expanding and important format that offers unique advantages to the education sector, and this partnership between SUNY Press and Kno allows educators and students to utilize our content, both individually and collaboratively, in new and very meaningful ways,” said Greg Smith, SUNY Press Digital Programs Manager.
The new partnership with SUNY Press will provide Kno with a wide range of higher education content, including titles from cultural studies, philosophy, political science, and psychology disciplines as well as SUNY Press’s popular Excelsior Editions, which focus on the culture and history of the New York region.
“Our partnership with SUNY Press will give students access to an even wider selection of titles as they head into the Spring semester,” said Mark Williams, Vice President of Sales, Kno, Inc. “SUNY’s reach as one of the largest university presses with exclusive content, combined with Kno’s digital interactive features, will provide students with a premier digital reading experience to achieve their academic goals.”
The company also recently launched Kno Me, a personal study dashboard that helps students measure their engagement with each Kno eTextbook they use. Students can check-in frequently to see near real time stats on their study behavior, interaction levels, time management and personal progress. And with Kno Me social sharing, students can opt-in to share their results with peers and even follow the engagement levels of other classmates.
Kno is transforming the way students learn by making educational content more engaging, efficient, and social. Kno combines the best of a physical textbook along with more than 70 interactive features including a Course Manager to organize textbooks by course, chapter preview to visually navigate pages, and innovative features such as 3D, Smart Links, Journal, Smart Search and Social Sharing, which are engineered to increase students’ learning potential and information retention.
