Amazon’s next future-building innovation? Drones delivering items to customer doorsteps within 30 minutes of ordering.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that the company is planning to deliver the innovation in several years time to CBS television magazine 60 Minutes.

There are several stumbling blocks, Federal Aviation Administration approval, for one; putting in redundancy systems to prevent problems (and secure approval) is another.

The drones will operate independently and will carry packages of up to five pounds.

“It will work and it will happen and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Bezos said.
