UPDATE: Digital Book Wire has learned that this is the first time that Thomas Nelson has embarked on this kind of project.
Thomas Nelson Fiction Releases Individual Novellas in E-only Format
(Nashville, TN) Furthering its commitment to eBook exploration, Thomas Nelson Fiction launched this week eBook-only versions of the three novellas previously published in the popular collection “An Amish Gathering” by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Barbara Cameron. The initiative, aimed at reaching new readers, makes the novellas quick, affordable selections and allows the publisher to experiment with various price points for the short pieces. New, individual covers grace the retail listings for the novellas: “A Change of Heart,” by Wiseman, “A Place of His Own,” by Fuller, and “When Winter Comes,” by Cameron.
“One of the most exciting aspects of electronic publishing is the flexibility of freeing stories from their original format to serve different readers,” said Allen Arnold, Sr. VP and Publisher, Thomas Nelson Fiction. “With the advent of eReader devices, there’s no longer a hard and fast understanding of what length and what format Fiction readers prefer. Our Amish novella collections are counted among some of our most successful titles, and this new initiative makes it easy for readers new to this collection or to the authors to experience a sampling in an affordable way. And if they enjoy the individual titles, those readers will likely be the next to purchase the individual authors’ full-length works.
Last month, Thomas Nelson Fiction made industry news with its unique $0.99 e-first launch of the first half of Beth Wiseman’s first contemporary novel not set in an Amish community, “Need You Now.” The second half of the eBook ($10.99), the full eBook ($15.99), and the full tradepaper edition ($15.99) officially release on April 10, 2012.
