Sylvia Day Tops E-Book Best-Seller List, Duels With E.L. James for No. 1 Amazon Author Rank
Sylvia Day has captured the Nos. 1, 10 and 16 spots on this week’s edition of the DBW E-Book Best-Seller List but has been demoted to No. 2 on the Amazon author rankings (at the time of writing this article — the rankings are updated hourly).
Capturing the No. 1 spot is E.L. James, with her Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy jumping up the rankings a handful of spots to Nos. 4, 5 and 7.
One wrinkle in this head-to-head battle is the larger war between Penguin and Random House. The latter had a record first half of the year with Fifty Shades of Grey and Gone Girl leading the way. Penguin, however, is coming on strong in the second half with seven titles in our top 25 this week. Meanwhile, Random House has five titles in the top 25.
Both authors write what’s being talked about today as “new adult contemporary” or erotic romance fiction. This genre has captured six of the top ten spots on this week’s list.
