Open Road Hires New Acquisitions Editor



Former Editor at the Overlook Press Will Help Expand Open Road’s Growing Catalog

Gorton Has Worked with a Wide Range of Acclaimed Authors Including Terry Bisson, Raja Alem, Mark Derr, and Carrie Hagen

(New York, NY – April 23, 2012) Open Road Integrated Media (, a digital publisher and multimedia content company, announced today that Stephanie Gorton has joined the company as Acquisitions Manager. Gorton, a former editor at the Overlook Press, will help acquire backlist titles for Open Road’s Author Brands program and will also be involved in the acquisition and publication activities for Open Road Publishing Partners and frontlist E-riginal titles. Gorton will report to Tina Pohlman, Publisher.

In addition, Marjorie Braman who joined the company as a Consulting Editorial Director will become Strategic Advisor, Author Brands. She will also continue to separately run her literary consulting business providing editorial services to a wide range of authors.

Pohlman said: “Stephanie’s literary sensibility and farsighted publishing vision fit perfectly with Open Road’s mission to connect readers and writers via its cutting-edge marketing platform. And as Open Road expands its global publishing partnership program, her international experience will provide a valuable perspective.”

Gorton joins Open Road’s growing team. The company recently announced the addition of Timothy Travaglini as Director of Children’s Acquisitions.

Gorton was previously an editor at the Overlook Press, where she acquired and edited a wide range of fiction and narrative nonfiction titles including Terry Bisson’s Any Day Now, Raja Alem’s The Dove’s Necklace, Mark Derr’sHow the Dog Became the Dog: From Wolves to Our Best Friends, and Carrie Hagen’s We Is Got Him: The Kidnapping That Changed America. Prior to the Overlook Press, Gorton was managing editor at Canongate Books in Edinburgh. She began her career as a Paris Review intern under George Plimpton and Brigid Hughes, and also worked at London’s Eland Books, a publisher dedicated to keeping classic works of travel literature in print. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh.
