Microsoft Announcement Today: New Nook Tablet?
Microsoft will be making an announcement today that some have speculated will be a new tablet computer to challenge Apple’s iPad.
The new joint venture between Microsoft and Barnes & Noble suggests that the new tablet will be a Nook-branded device running Windows software. PC World has speculated that it could also be a Windows 8 device that has nothing to do with the Nook. Others have said it could be an Xbox branded tablet.
In May, immediately after the Barnes & Noble/Microsoft deal was announced, Digital Book World reported that one possibility for the merger was a Windows-powered Nook tablet.
The announcement will be held at a secret location in Los Angeles at 6:30 PM Eastern time.
