Playboy has joined the parade of media companies not traditionally considered book publishers that are getting into the e-book game.

Starting today for the next 50 days, Playboy will release one of its top 50 interviews from the past 50 years. Each will be sold for $0.99 exclusively in the Kindle store. Interviewees include Miles Davis, Martin Luther King, Jack Nicholson and, of course, Jimmy Carter, whose “lust in the heart” comment sparked debate around the country when he made it in the controversial magazine in 1976.

Other interviews featured in the series include Francis Ford Coppola, Fidel Castro, Robert DeNiro and Tina Fey.

Playboy joins a venerable list of non-book-publishing media companies now publishing e-books, including Hearst, Vanity Fair, NBC, The Washington Post and others.
