HarperCollins Digital Sales Come Back in Q3
Publishers Lunch has the scoop (HarperCollins Touts “Terrific” Third Quarter As Digital Sales Rebound To 18 Percent Worldwide):
In a brief statement, Harper said they had “a terrific quarter across the board” thanks to “lower returns and higher ebook sales in most areas.” Worldwide digital sales for the quarter rebounded to nearly 18 percent, up significantly from the 10 percent figure for digital and audio during the previous quarter. As we have pointed out in the past, Harper has reported a variety of measures of digital sales; for the first quarter they disclosed print sales through “bricks and mortar retail” only, which were 77 percent worldwide and 71 percent in the US, while they broke out ebook sales of 12 percent overall for fiscal 2011.
