I wasn’t ready to face the outside world, but you know how Italian dads are. He and my older brother, who was already in the navy, decided I must be a sailor. It’s not good to be the second son in an Italian family as comparisons are made, and only one son can be the future torchbearer. I was the happy-go-lucky son, who was misunderstood. My story conveys how I continued to grow up while I was in the navy. My goal was to serve my time, get an honorable discharge, and get back home. During my service, I did some dumb things both accidentally and on purpose. I could have been killed several times too. I was injured and spent a week aboard a Pakistani War Ship. This was 1955, no one ever heard of Pakistan back then. By reading my story, there is a lot of naval lore to learn of; it also has drama, and much of it is conveyed humorously and I guarantee my readers will get a few laughs too. My story “Accidental Ambassador” will get self-published in the next several months.
