Following Trend, Another Media Player Launches Book Imprint

Following in the footsteps of NBC Publishing, Forbes and other media companies, GigaOM is launching its own series of e-books, GigaOM Books.

The tech blog, which recently acquired paidContent, will start with two titles, Cut the Cord: All You Need to Know to Drop Cable, by Janko Roettgers for $4.99, and Connected Health: How Mobile Phones, Cloud and Big Data Will Reinvent Health Care, by Jody Ranck, DrPH for $7.99. The books are on sale at Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble.

The announcement was made on the GigaOM site by Michael Wolf, a vice president at the company, who will be overseeing the project.

Upcoming books will include a title by paidContent legal reporter Jeff Roberts’ on the Google Books settlement.

The company is using the Vook platform to create the books and is accepting unsolicited book proposals.
