BookShout! Launches Interactive Resource Library, Partners with Startup America to Invite Entrepreneurs to Read Along and Connect with Startup Communities Author Brad Feld, AOL Co-Founder Steve Case and Other Business Leaders
Social Reading Platform Encourages Users to Discover Books, Create Reading Circles, and Share Content and Comments with Others
Startups are typically cited as the engines of job growth, yet most face significant challenges accessing capital, filling jobs and scaling innovation. With that in mind, BookShout! today announced a community-building campaign with the Startup America Partnership that aims to connect entrepreneurs with industry mentors and educational content to accelerate startup success.
Leveraging BookShout!’s social reading platform, the program features an interactive resource library that encourages users to discover books, create reading circles, and share content and comments with others. The first title in the collection is Startup Communities, by renowned entrepreneur turned-venture capitalist Brad Feld of Foundry Group and TechStars, with read-along participation from Chairman of Startup America and AOL Co-founder Steve Case, Startup America CEO Scott Case, and others.
“We go to movies together, listen to music together, and now–thanks to BookShout!–we can read together,” said Feld. “Imagine a class collaboratively learning, an executive team studying a book together, or a virtual mentorship program. This is the future, and this is what BookShout! is doing.”
When users download their Startup Communities book, they will be invited to “follow” Feld and other suggested influencers as they comment publicly on the book, interact with each other, and engage in one-on-one conversations by following readers back. Readers can invite friends, track their activities and browse others’ interests and reading circles as well.
“Every book can now be a platform for people to share, collaborate and learn together on their mobile device or computer,” said Jason Illian, CEO of BookShout! and Startup Texas champion. “Brad Feld is one of the innovators leading the way, but we are also very encouraged by how schools, companies, nonprofits and other groups are beginning to use BookShout! to build communities and engage more deeply with end users.”
Thanks to Wiley Publishing and Brad Feld, Startup Communities is available for the special low price of $12.99 only on BookShout!, with the first three chapters of the book free for anyone to read. For more info, visit http://marketing.bookshout.com/bradfeld.html.
New books will be added to the Startup America digital library periodically, expanding the scope and diversity of topics and authors aiming to celebrate, inspire and accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship throughout the nation.
With more than 250 publishers and 100,000 books accessible via iPad, iPhone, iOS, Android or the Web, BookShout! enables users to share thoughts and notes across networks including Facebook and Twitter and enjoy a richer, more engaging reading experience.
