Readers who buy a Nook tablet in a Barnes & Noble store this summer will have access to a bundle of children’s content curated to encourage children’s reading all summer at various age levels.
Barnes & Noble announced today its new Nook Kids Summer Reading Program, a promotion running from June 18 to September 2 that will give away three bundles of children’s content in three groups:
— June 18 through July 15: Summer Reading Collection for Ages 7-12
— July 16 through August 5: Summer Reading Collection for Teens
— August 6 through September 2: Picture books for young readers
UPDATE: Barnes & Noble got back to me about the below question. Consumers who purchase in the first period, June 18 through July 15, will get access to the first bundle of books for free; those who purchase in the second period will get access to the second bundle; and so on.
It is unclear whether those who buy Nooks during one of the periods will have access to the free content from all three or whether consumers will have to buy a Nook during a certain period to get access to the free content from that period. Digital Book World has sent a query out to Barnes & Noble communications representatives to answer this question.
