Barnes & Noble Names New VP of International and Continues UK Expansion

In two moves today, Barnes & Noble strengthened and increased its international efforts: by naming a new vice president of its international business and by continuing to sign on retail partners in the UK, its first international expansion target.

B&N has named Patrick Rouvillois vice president and managing director of its international business. He will be responsible for building the Barnes & Noble brand outside the U.S. Rouvillois comes most immediately from the retail world where he was chief marketing officer and head of e-commerce for Carrefour, an international retailer with 15,000 bricks-and-mortar locations. He will report to Jamie Iannone, president of Barnes & Noble digital products. (More on Rouvillois in the press release below.)

Building on momentum from earlier in the month, Barnes & Noble also announced today its partnership with Dixon’s in the UK to sell Nook devices. Dixon’s is the parent company of retailers PC World and Curry’s, which have 600 stores between them, bumping up the number of retail stores in the UK where Nook devices are sold to nearly 1,600.
