The time for children’s digital picture books may have finally come.

Owners of the new Amazon tablet computer, Kindle Fire, buy nearly three times more children’s books as their e-ink Kindle counterparts, according to Russ Grandinetti, vice president of Kindle content, who spoke this morning at the Digital Book World Conference in New York.

Further, sales of color, digital picture books to Kindle Fire owners are about 16 times what they were through Amazon previously.
