’50 Shades’ Goes Hollywood

From the New York Times (Universal Acquires Movie Rights to Trilogy of Erotic Novels):

“Fifty Shades of Grey,” the erotic novel that went from X-rated underground sensation to mainstream literary phenomenon, is poised to become a Hollywood movie.

Universal Pictures has acquired the film rights to the entire “Fifty Shades” trilogy, the studio announced on Monday. Focus Features will distribute and market the film. Written by the British author E L James, the trilogy includes two more novels, “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed.”

The books follow the S&M adventures of Christian Grey, a wealthy Seattle businessman, and Anastasia Steele, a naïve college student.
