In today’s era of media convergence, publishers, filmmakers, producers, directors, broadcasters, writers and gamers are seeing – and profiting from – creative collaboration with the ‘story’ at the center. Transmedia development takes the intellectual property or ‘story’ and moves it across myriad platforms to reach mass audiences, optimizing the value of the content, and creating a ‘world’ in which the story lives, morphs, and expands.
“We are very excited to add StoryWorld to our ever-expanding events business group,” said David Nussbaum, Chairman and CEO, F+W Media. “The event is an important addition to the Company and the Digital Book World community, and we couldn’t be prouder to have Alison as our partner and Chairperson. Coming on the heels of Digital Book World 2011, one of the most important digital content events in the U.S., StoryWorld will provide even more valuable information, networking, and new technology ideas to the emerging transmedia industry.”
“I am honored and extremely excited to commit to the role of Conference Chair for StoryWorld and am in the process of building an exciting Advisory Board, packed with global front-runners in the transmedia industry,” said Norrington. “StoryWorld is the first global, annual conference to bring creators, writers, artists, producers, broadcasters, publishers, directors, advertising, and gaming industries together to disseminate, discuss and share the strategies and considerations in adopting a transmedia mind-set. Transmedia won’t work without a robust, invigorated story. Without story, transmedia is a failed attempt at flimsy advertising, which is why the launch of the StoryWorld Conference + EXPO is so hugely pivotal.”
Norrington is an English transmedia storyteller and producer, novelist, playwright, and journalist. As founder of storycentralDIGITAL she consults to publishers, broadcasters, filmmakers, and authors globally on transmedia strategies, participative experiences, and utilizing social media, while also developing her own transmedia projects. She has written for WIRED Magazine and is a frequent speaker at leading events, such as TEDx Transmedia, Digital Book World, and The London Book Fair Digital Conference.
