We don’t usually run press releases here, but this one affects Digital Book World directly as F+W Media is our parent company and this deal will allow us to add an expanded selection of books to our own eStore, complementing our growing range of DBW products.
It also allows me to get a step closer to my personal dream of running a bookstore! As soon as I get the signal, among the first books I plan to add will be The Cluetrain Manifesto, Groundswell and You Are Not a Gadget.
What other books should we definitely include?
NOTE: DBW Members get a 10% discount off all books in the DBW eStore, including those that will be added via the Ingram deal. Stay tuned for more information on that.

F+W Media agreement with Ingram Content Group will add 500,000 titles to 21 eStores
CINCINNATI – F+W Media, Inc. and Ingram Content Group Inc. announced today they have established an “online commerce collaboration” to enhance the breadth of products that are available through F+W Media’s 21 eStores.
The agreement will add approximately 500,000 additional book titles available from Ingram, the leading wholesaler of physical and digital content in the book industry, and publishers working with Ingram will gain access to an additional robust sales channel.
“Our mission is to serve our enthusiasts with the best available content and services in support of their creative pursuits,” said F+W Media Chairman and CEO David Nussbaum. “As our eCommerce business continues to grow and diversify, we will further that mission by offering other high-quality content, regardless of publisher. What makes the F+W eStore experience unique to other e-tailers is the trusted relationship shared between readers and the Company’s expert editors.”
Sara Domville, F+W President, said: “The logical next step in our vision to create more compelling eStores for our enthusiast communities was to provide the widest possible product range. By working with Ingram we have been able to swiftly achieve our goal and are delighted to be in a position to offer our consumers a more complete shopping experience. It was very apparent during the Digital Book World conference that John Ingram and I were in alignment in our desire to create new niche online retail experiences, and hence our enhanced relationship began to take shape.
“Ingram is the perfect company to work with to add a myriad of other publishers’ enthusiast content, which we will market and sell to our ever-growing audience. At F+W we pride ourselves on working within our community, listening and learning from consumers to produce products that exceed their expectations. Our collaboration with Ingram enables us to offer quality books and other media both through our own online retail outlets, and very importantly to all other points of retail distribution.”
John R. Ingram, Chairman of Ingram Content Group Inc. said: “Ingram and F+W Media jointly recognize the emerging commerce opportunities around online communities, and Ingram is committed to helping our customers create distinct business advantages in this space. We are excited to work with this forward-thinking company in this capacity and welcome the opportunity to explore other ways our services can help as we both look ahead to new frontiers in publishing.”
Ms. Domville explained that her company will begin with its fine art and design communities, by adding all relevant titles from the Ingram’s breadth of titles to its NorthLightShop.com and MyDesignShop.com. Additional titles will be released across the company’s eStores, each dedicated to a vertical community, in the coming months.
